"WE love you" "We love you so much" "Can we get a photo?"
A moment at the Brookvale pre-poll venue on Thursday was more like a rock concert, than a chance to cast a democratic vote.
Incumbent independent MP for Warringah, Zali Steggall, had been mingling among volunteers and voters, when suddenly a gaggle of squealing high school girls rushed up to the MP gushing their praise.
The teens were grasping at their phones and asking Steggall for selfies, as the MP posed with the gushing teens. One was even blowing kisses at Steggall.
Those nearby turned and watched as the giggling and squealing rose to a crescendo, amid claims of "we love you" and "can we get a photo". Then, the teens were gone as quick as they'd arrived.
Steggall's media advisor, who was standing just metres away, swore it wasn't a planned encounter, and that her boss has been getting lots of support from young people, even those too young to vote.
"People are being incredibly supportive, which I'm really appreciative of," Steggall said. "I'm feeling good, but feeling really focused on the job at hand."
At the Manly pre-polling venue on Thursday, it was a little more subdued as volunteers handed out how-to-votes, and Liberals candidate for Warringah Katherine Deves talked to voters.

"I am receiving overwhelming support, that has only grown since pre-polling started," she said.
"I've had many people coming up and wishing me well, supporting me, telling me they're voting for me, it's been fabulous."
Your say: Who are you voting for?
The Northern Beaches Review surveyed voters exiting the Manly and Brookvale pre-polling centres. We spoke to five voters, at random, here's what they had to say.
Pre-polling runs every day until election day, with four locations across the northern beaches where you can cast your vote.
